How we stay balanced
Every side. Your call.
MyTownVote welcomes every point of view — and takes none. Our job is to lay out what your town is deciding, the strongest case for and the strongest case against, and the town's own words behind both, so you can make your own informed decision. We never tell you how to vote.
Only public records
Every topic comes from public town records: agendas, packets, minutes, warrants and the town's own notices. We never use private or closed-door information, and every topic lists the documents it came from — members can open and read each one right here.
Both cases, from the same documents
- The case for and the case against are written separately, from the same documents, and every point must quote them. A point without a quote is removed.
- A balance review then checks the two cases against each other — for strength, fairness and length — and scores the result. Topics that pass show ✓ Balance check passed; topics that don't are flagged for an editor to fix.
- Neither side always goes first: each topic leads with one case or the other.
- The summaries are written with AI, and we say so. People review every topic before it's published.
Independent
- Not run by, or affiliated with, any town government.
- No advertising, no political money, no endorsements of candidates or ballot questions.
- Paid for by residents' memberships, so we answer to residents.
- Resident straw polls are unofficial — they show where neighbors lean, and never replace the real vote at Town Meeting or the ballot box.
Tell us when we miss
If an analysis seems one-sided or leaves something out, use “Does this seem one-sided? Tell us” under the cases on any topic. An editor reviews every report, and when we change an analysis because of one, it's noted on the topic and listed below.
